There have been quite a lot of rumors in the past that Amazon is getting into the Android game with its Kindle Tablet but finally today these rumors are starting to make some sense thanks to TechCrunch editor who has got some hands-on time with a 7 inch Amazon Android Kindle Tablet.

According to the source who claims to have handled a prototype, the Amazon Kindle Tablet looks very much like RIM’s 7 inch BlackBerry PlayBook Tablet in design with a rubberized rear panel and it runs highly customized version of Google’s Android operating system.
While the exact operating system version is unknown he describes it like a version that has not been seen before. Anyhow the Amazon Tablet will also not include any physical function buttons, and a navigation menu will be on display screen.
Moreover the source also cites that it also features tight integration with some of the Amazon services including Amazon Appstore and Amazon’s Cloud Player service. In addition the Amazon Tablet has built-in Amazon Instant Video and Amazon Prime. The device will also lack a camera or SD or microSD expansion slots.
Apart from being running on Android, it won’t have Android Market as well as no bundled Google apps like Gmail and Maps.
Furthermore other information provided include that a 10-inch dual-core version of Amazon Tablet is also in work and will be released early 2012. But the 10 inch version will only be released if the 7 inch tablet sales are good. The 7 inch Amazon Kindle Tablet will available by the end of November this year with a price tag of $250 (£150).
