BBC launches News App for iPhone and iPad

BBC is going to launch its News App for Apple iPhone and iPad and later this year, it will be launch for Android and BlackBerry devices. The News App was originally announced in the start of this year but due to anti-competitive concerns BBC was forced to review the situation. This step from BBC might make many news agencies a bit unhappy especially the ones who charge for news.

According to Erik Huggers who is director of the BBC Future Media & Technology: “We know that increasing numbers of you want to access BBC output on-the-go and the rapid growth of internet-connected mobiles and smart phones in the market means we can cost-effectively provide our content and services on these devices, and this is a really important way for us to deliver online services in the future”. He also added, “The first class journalism that you expect from the BBC is now available to you in a way that is simple, personalized and optimized for mobile devices”.

Whats in the App?
Live streaming of the news channel, plus regular updates to headlines and news stories. The News App is free of course and are ready to be downloaded from the App Store.  Sorry Android and BlackBerry users, they have to wait to get this App.
