iPhone Dev-Team has finally launched a video of iPod touch 4G on iOS 4.1 Jailbreak by putting the SHAtter exploit in Pwnagetool. SHAtter is a low level bootrom exploit which was discovered by Chronic Dev Team member pod2g. The release time for iPhone 4 and iPod touch 4G on iOS 4.1 final jailbreak tool is not yet mentioned, but it is confirmed from the video that the Jailbreak for iOS 4.1 will be launching soon. iPhone Dev-Team has perform this jailbreak by manual methods which is ofcourse not for the end users.
In the meantime, we’ve put @pod2g’s exploit into a beta version of PwnageTool to test the waters. The SHAtter exploit was enough to convince the iPod touch 4G to restore to our custom IPSW. The successful result is shown below! It’s all working: customized Preferences to show battery percentage, Cydia, root shell…the works!
Jailbreak tools for iOS 4.1 on iPhone 3G, iPhone 3GS and iPod touch 2G are already released. You can check out Sn0wbreeze 2.0.1 and Redsn0w 0.9.6B1. iPhone Dev-Team has mentioned that Pwnagetool performance is not good for iOS 4.1 jailbreak. We should wait for the Greenp0is0n iOS 4.1 jailbreak tool, expected to launch soon.
Stay tuned, we will be updating you when jailbreak tools are available for iPhone 4 and iPod touch 4G on iOS 4.1.
