Nokia has officially binned the MeeGo based Nokia N9 but don’t worry Nokia fan boys (if you still out there) because you will be getting your hands on this Smartphone but as Nokia N950. We all know recently Nokia and Microsoft joined forces to bring Nokia Windows Phone 7, but with this decision it is quite clear that Nokia will not let go its MeeGo operating system and will release the MeeGo based Nokia N950 later this year.

This news get more credible after the today’s Mobile Business Briefing blog report, who has mentioned that Nokia has increased salary and bonuses for the developers and engineers, who are working in the MeeGo area in order to maintain progress on the first MeeGo Smartphone, dubbed the N950.
Nokia N950 Rumored Specifications
There is no exact information over what this MeeGo Smartphone will be coming with but most suggestions believe that it will be packing with a 1.2GHz processor not confirmed whether it will be single-core or dual-core and 768MB of RAM. It is also rumored to have a 12 megapixel camera on-board and a 4.0 inches large full capacitive touch screen display. Other of its specs will be same as other Smartphones like Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, 4G connectivity, GPS with A-GPS, MicroSD card and GPRS.
Nokia N950 Price & Availability
There is no information over what it will cost or when it will land but all we know is that Nokia will announce at least one of the MeeGo powered Smartphone in this year as per its official announcement.
Anyhow what you think of this step from Nokia? Will it work to regain the Smartphone market which was once of Nokia? Let us know what you think about it in the comment box below.

Can’t wait! I really think Meego is a better platform than anything out there including WP7. I understand why Nokia is partnering with Microsoft, but long term, Meego is the better OS.
I am glad to hear they haven’t abandoned MeeGo at this point, but I fear it could happen in the future.
Personally I am happy with my Symbian Nokia and would have preferred a Symbian/MeeGo Nokia versus a Windows 7/MeeGo Nokia, which very well could end up just being a Windows 7 Nokia.
Could Nokia be using a ploy and microsoft to buy time till meego is perfected and dump billy gates like yesterdays news. Hope so.
If it doesn’t have IR i wont even look at it
its sure that this phone will kick iphone 4’s ass but what will happen with the iphone 5? we have to wait and see
wat r dey waiting for, get this thng launched ASAP.
hope it comes packed with d N900 feats. and more… with nthng missing..
And dnt compete with any other – just do ur thng…
Nokia has lost the battle. Unfortunately they are completely clueless and unable to take any smart decision for 4 years now. I understand (but not approve) the choice to use non proprietary OS but once that choice is made thay should have gone for 2 OS: W7 and Android. Is not difficult to copy successful strategies like HTC and Samsung. With this decision they will likely loose more market share and then climbing back get more and more difficult. GOOD LUCK
Good
Nokia has what it takes, but keeps floundering. The “N950″ if launched as shown will be a big disappointment due to those (myself included) who prefer a QWERTY tactile keyboard and were patiently awaiting the N9 (which it supposedly had). The N8 & E7 were disappointments due to, lack of microSD, lack of QWERTY tactile keyboard; therefore sales were not as they could have been. I presently am on the “E71″, which itself only needed modifications to make it an outstanding smartphone. If the “N950″ is what is next to be debuted then I will continue to hang in there with my “E71″ with its lack of power, memory, screen size, etc., until Nokia does it right.
Nokia will never release some bunch oh shit phones like that because there we know they will make a phone(with specifications of this fake N950) but it will not be any N950
i am sure that nokia will release a way better phone….But iPhone will release a way better iPhone…there is such a God War….
