Mozilla’s Firefox 4 gets touchy-feely! Mozilla has released the latest beta version of its browser. With Windows 7’s built-in support for multi-touch actions on touchscreen tablets, desktops and laptops, this new Firefox beta supports touch events on Windows 7 machines.

Also new to this release is an enhancement to the JavaScript capabilities within Firefox. If you’ve been keeping up with all the latest JavaScript and HTML5 web app demos we’ve been showing you over the last few months, you’ve probably noticed that animations with many moving parts tend to be much smoother and faster in Chrome and Safari. This new version of Firefox gives scripted animation performance a significant boost, so the speed difference is less noticeable.

The multi-touch functions use the CSS3 and HTML 5 coding to let you zoom, move and interact with the web.
The Firefox 4 beta 3 is available for all major operating systems for over 30 languages from Mozilla’s beta download site. Improvements have also been made to Firefox’s Java Script engine which allow for faster number-crunching.

As Firefox 4 is still a pre-release browser, so it may not be entirely stable. However, according to Mozilla, beta 3 is stable and safe to use for daily web browsing. Official release is expected to be October or November of this year.
